About BEACON

BEACON answers one question fast: which classrooms are free right now at COMSATS University Lahore? Find a room, see how long it stays free, go study.

BEACON is not affiliated with COMSATS University Islamabad. It is an independent, student-made project — not endorsed by, operated by, or connected to the university or its Lahore Campus. Timetable data remains the property of the university, and the officially published schedule is always the final word.

How the data works

Every night a polite crawler reads the official public timetable at sfs.cuilahore.edu.pk and converts it into a static snapshot: v. 2026-09-13, fetched 2026-09-14. That file is what the page loads — nothing is computed live, and no request ever reaches the university servers from your browser. The crawler never logs in and never touches anything private: it reads only the same public schedule any student can open.

Because the source updates on its own schedule, the freshness dot in the header turns amber when the snapshot is older than 24 hours. The timetable can also change between scrapes (cancelled or moved classes), so treat BEACON as a strong hint, not a guarantee.

The snapshot covers classrooms and labs across the A, B, C, D and N blocks, plus seminar halls and other rooms on campus. If a room is missing from the list entirely, the official sheet probably does not mention it — report it and we will check the scraper.

Report wrong data

Found a room marked free that was actually locked, or a class that shouldn't be there? Open an issue on the project's GitHub repository with the room code, day, time and what the official timetable sheet says. Wrong rows in the source timetable itself can only be fixed by the university — the official sheet is always the authority.
